TCHD Hosts Successful Breastfeeding Event

Taney County Health Department (TCHD) always seeks opportunities to support breastfeeding families. Earlier this month, TCHD Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Division hosted a community Breastfeeding Celebration. Several breastfeeding moms, their families, and babies from all over Taney County were in attendance. This event focused on celebrating the accomplishments of these hardworking households. Moms and their families enjoyed refreshments, learned about local resources, and enjoyed a beautiful day. “The fact that I can come to an event like this and be recognized by the staff says a lot about the people working at the health department” shares Brooklyn Starkweather, mother of five who attended the event. “They really care about the families they work with.” TCHD is a designated Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic. This high honor is given to clinics that provide exemplary breastfeeding guidance to the community. TCHD is proud to have received this title every year since 2012. “We want to show these mothers and children that we are always here for them” shares Tammy Drake, WIC Division Manager. “Whether we are celebrating a successful first-time mom or walking alongside a mama in need of additional support, we pride ourselves on being a constant resource for these families. Hosting events like this helps show the impact of our invaluable program.” The TCHD WIC program impacts the lives of Taney County citizens every day. In 2024, Taney County WIC served 16,967 mothers, infants, and children.
